Artmaking

“A picture is worth a thousand words”

Clients are encouraged to relax and become ‘like children’ again who naturally immerse themselves into spontaneous self-express through the non-verbal language of colour, texture, tone and symbol. The created artwork provides a valuable lens into the client’s internal world of felt sensations, thoughts and emotions that underlie issues brought to therapy that words are inadequate to describe. The accumulated artworks, over time, create a valuable visual record of the therapy process and the client’s innate creative capacity to imagine, explore and manifest alternatives, possibilities and solutions to the problems they face.

Therapeutic artmaking emphasises the ‘process’ of creating art and is unconcerned about the aesthetics of the product. Previous art experience is not at all a prerequisite.
