Artmaking
Clients are enabled to feel safe and to relax so that they can become ‘like children’ again, who naturally draw on their imagination and creativity to explore alternatives, possibilities and solutions to the challenges they face. In this way, they are encouraged to express their bodily sensations, emotions and thoughts about the challenges they face, through spontaneous art making, using colour, texture, tone, symbol and image. While the act of art making is therapeutic, the completed artwork provides a valuable lens on the issue making visible the felt experience that underpins it, to offer further understanding .
Previous art experience is not at all a prerequisite with the emphasis being on the experience of creating and and not the aesthetics or the outcome of the completed art piece.
